Required Skills
Technical Expertise (Must Have)
- Core Software Engineering: Robust programming background in TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Java. You write clean, maintainable, production-quality code. Experience with build management tools (Gradle, Maven, npm).
- Test Automation: Expert-level knowledge of UI automation (Playwright) and API testing (Playwright, Postman, Hoppscotch). Experience with BDD frameworks (Cucumber/Gherkin) is a plus but not required.
- System Architecture: Deep understanding of how distributed systems work end-to-end. Experience with Orchestration layers (GraphQL), microservices, event-driven architectures, and API gateway patterns.
- Cloud & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CloudBuild). You can configure and troubleshoot pipelines, not just run them.
- AI Tooling:
Active use of AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, OpenCode, Claude, custom agents). You should be able to demonstrate how AI accelerates your engineering output.
Role Responsibilities Strategic Collaboration & Initiative Driving
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Actively partner with Business, Architecture, Product, Design, and Software Engineering teams to align testing activities with business acceptance criteria and architectural realities.
- Drive Quality Initiatives: Take a proactive, self-driven approach to identifying gaps in test coverage. Drive E2E quality initiatives, ensuring the testing strategy shifts left and adheres to the Testing Pyramid.
- Lead Technical Direction: Own the automation architecture decisions for your domain. Make framework choices, establish patterns, and enforce standards through code review and pairing.
