Sterilization Assistant — Full-Time or Part-Time

Ayr Dental is growing, and we’re looking for a Sterilization Assistant to join our team. We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and positive team player who takes pride in maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient clinical setting.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to support excellent patient care and is open to technology, continuous learning, and being part of a collaborative dental team.

Full-time or part-time hours available.

Our regular office hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Position Responsibilities

- Clean, disinfect, package, sterilize, and store dental instruments according to established office protocols and current Ontario IPAC standards and recommendations.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners or instrument washers, as applicable.
- Follow proper instrument reprocessing workflows from point-of-use through cleaning, inspection, packaging, sterilization, and storage.
- Perform and document required sterilizer monitoring and quality-assurance procedures.
- Maintain accurate sterilization and equipment records.
- Ensure sterilized instruments are properly packaged, dated, stored, and available for clinical use.
- Prepare and organize treatment rooms and operatories for patient appointments.
- Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and disinfection between patients.
- Maintain appropriate levels of sterilization supplies, PPE, disinfectants, barriers, and other clinical materials.
- Monitor inventory and notify the team when supplies need to be reordered.
- Follow appropriate procedures for handling contaminated instruments, sharps, biomedical waste, and other clinical materials.
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked sterilization area.
- Support the dental team with clinical and office duties as required.




- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a strong commitment to infection prevention and patient safety.
- Stay current with office protocols, training, technology, and applicable regulatory and IPAC requirements.
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture through communication, teamwork, accountability, and willingness to help wherever needed.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous dental assisting, sterilization, healthcare, or instrument-reprocessing experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of dental instrument sterilization and infection prevention and control is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to following established protocols.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy dental environment.
- Comfortable using computers and learning new technology and practice-management systems.
- Willingness to learn and participate in continuing education and training.
- Dependable, organized, punctual, and able to work independently while also being a strong team player.
- Positive attitude and professional communication skills.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and a high standard of professionalism.
