Objective and Scope

Reporting to the CEO, the Talent Research and Engagement Specialist supports executive search engagements by uncovering leadership talent, developing market intelligence and creating thoughtful connections with senior leaders.

This role combines deep research, curiosity, and authentic engagement to help identify leaders whose experience, motivations, and leadership approach align with each client's mission, strategy, culture, and values. Working closely with the Essence team, the Specialist brings fresh perspectives to the talent landscape and ensures every interaction reflects Essence's personalized, human approach.

Responsibilities

Research and Talent Intelligence

· Conduct in-depth research across industries, organizations and leadership markets to understand the talent landscape for each search.

· Identify and uncover passive leadership talent through creative sourcing, professional networks, databases and online research.

· Map target organizations, relevant roles, reporting structures, career paths and transferable experience to bring new possibilities to light.

· Develop accurate, well-researched talent lists and document relevant market insights, patterns and opportunities.

· Maintain organized, current and confidential records within the firm's database and search files.

Authentic Engagement

· Create unique, personalized, thoughtful outreach that reflects each background and the opportunity.

· Connect with prospective candidates through telephone, email, social media and skilled networks in a respectful and engaging manner.

· Build trust through honest conversations, attentive follow-up and a genuine interest in each person's experience, goals and perspective.

· Develop long-term relationships with talent, including individuals who may not be ready for a career move today.





· Represent Essence Search Firm's warmth, professionalism, discretion and integrity in every interaction.

Collaboration and Coordination

· Collaborate with the team to develop and adjust research and engagement strategies for active assignments.

· Support candidate reference checks, background verifications and other search activities as required.

· Contribute ideas, market feedback and lessons learned to strengthen the firm's search practices and candidate experience.

Requirements

Experience and Education

· Post-secondary education degree or certificate along with ongoing professional development.

· Experience in the areas of research, talent sourcing, executive search, business development, sales, or stakeholder engagement.

· Strong online research skills and confidence using Microsoft Office, databases, social media and professional networking platforms.

· Experience handling sensitive information with discretion and sound judgment.
