We are looking for a Tax Preparer to join our growing Tax Team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career professional who wants to develop specialized experience in Canadian and US taxation.
About the role
As a Tax Preparer, you will support the Tax Team in preparing Canadian and US tax returns and working with detailed client information. You will work alongside experienced tax professionals and gain exposure to cross-border tax matters involving individuals and families with financial connections to both Canada and the United States.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of Canadian and US personal tax returns.
- Organize and review client tax information.
- Enter and verify tax information accurately.
- Prepare supporting schedules and working papers.
- Review source documents for completeness.
- Identify missing or inconsistent information.
- Assist with tax research and other tax assignments.
- Follow established preparation procedures and checklists.
- Maintain organized client files.
- Support Managers and Associates with tax assignments.
- Meet assigned deadlines.
- Learn and apply Canadian and US tax rules and procedures.
- Communicate questions and potential issues to the appropriate member of the Tax Team.
Qualifications
Required:
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, commerce or a related field, or currently completing such a program.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Solid organizational skills.
- Analytical mindset.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to learn.
Experience: Previous tax experience is an asset, but is not required.
Recent graduates, students completing relevant programs, and candidates with internship or co-op experience are encouraged to apply.
