Who We Are

At Inflexion, we believe people need places — places that tell stories, foster connections, and give players a sense of belonging. We make games that are more than just experiences; we create worlds where stories are lived, discovered, and shared. Our purpose is to build meaningful places through games, and we’re looking for passionate creators to join us on that journey.

Role Overview

As a Technical Animator, you’ll collaborate closely with artists, designers, and engineers to bring life to our game worlds. This role's primary responsibility will be to deliver game-ready content, as well as bridge the gap between art and technology, ensuring that assets and animations are not only visually stunning but also seamlessly integrated into the game engine.

What You’ll Do

Rigging and Skinning

- Create and maintain asset rigs that meet the requirements of animators and gameplay designers for achieving realistic and expressive experiences.

- Implementing current rig features based on project needs and animation requests.

- Ensuring efficient skinning and deformation techniques, addressing any issues related to character / creature mesh deformations and articulation.

Integration and Implementation

- Working with gameplay programmers and designers to integrate meshes and animations into the game engine, ensuring smooth gameplay experiences and adherence to performance targets across various platforms.

- Create and maintain animation pipelines, tools, and processes to streamline animation production workflows.

Scripting and Tool Development

- Utilizing scripting languages to develop custom tools and scripts to automate repetitive tasks, enhance productivity, and improve animation workflows.

- Leveraging Object Oriented Programming for module building and UI development.

Quality Assurance

- Conducting thorough testing and debugging of character animations within the game engine, identifying and addressing issues related to rigging, skinning, physics and cloth simulation,

animation blending and visual scripting to maintain high-quality standards.

- Iterating on skinned mesh and animation assets based on feedback from QA testing and playtesting sessions to achieve the desired level of polish and realism.

Collaboration & Iteration

- Work closely with our experienced team of cross discipline developers to ensure rigged assets are realized in-game with high fidelity and performance.

Growth & Innovation

- Stay curious about new tools, methods, and trends that push our quality forward.

- Contribute ideas that challenge the status quo and enhance player impact.

What You Bring

Experience & Skills

- Experience working in a Technical Animation role in the games industry or similar.

- Demonstrable skill in rigging and skinning of complex organic and hard surface models.

- Strong proficiency in animation software such as Maya, Motionbuilder, 3ds Max, or Blender.

- Experience working with animation systems in Unreal Engine.

- Strong proficiency with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Mel, MaxScript) for creating powerful and user friendly tools and automation processes. C++ is a plus.

- Experience with Maya API is a plus.

- Proficiency in facial rigging (blendshapes and joint-based systems) is a plus.

Mindset

- A collaborative, iterative approach — we value “Yes, and…” thinking.

- Eagerness to contribute to ambitious creative goals.

- Passion for games, world-building, and crafting experiences players belong in.

Education

- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, 3D Animation or equivalent experience.
