About Molaris
Molaris is building the Intelligent Operating System for the Dental Industry. Our mission: building the infrastructure for scalable, AI-driven dental operations, where every dental operation runs on AI.
We were founded by people who spent years inside dental labs, navigating broken workflows and software that tracked work without understanding it.
Our two products work as one system: ClearPath, the workflow and case management platform an entire operation runs on, and Orovia, the 3D software that powers our AI suite reading the clinical work moving through it. We're AI-native, not AI-bolted-on: every case processed makes the system sharper, and every feature is exercised in working labs, on real cases, against real deadlines.
We're a small, fully remote team solving hard problems in 3D geometry, machine learning, and production software.
Role
You're a QA engineer first: you'll own end-to-end test coverage for ClearPath and Orovia - software running daily production at high-volume dental lab sites. You'll write and maintain automated Playwright suites, design regression coverage, gate releases against staging, and verify the full scan-to-case pipeline works from capture device to case delivery.
What makes this role different from a standard QA seat: you sit where the software is used. When a release behaves differently in the field than in staging, you don't read about it in a ticket - you're there, you reproduce it, and you turn it into a failing test before engineering has finished reading your report. Support is part of the job, but it feeds the testing: every field issue becomes automated coverage so it never ships again.
What you'll do
- On-site technical support: Be the technical contact at the lab, triage operator-reported issues,
distinguish user error from config from defect, resolve or escalate with full context, and support device/station rollouts
- Own E2E automation: Build, maintain, and extend our Playwright test suites against staging, functional flows, regression packs, and sweep-style specs that catch dead interactions and uncaught exceptions before release
- Gate releases: Run the pre-release pass on every candidate: automated suites plus targeted manual/exploratory testing on flows automation can't reach. You sign off, or it doesn't ship
- Test the full pipeline: Verify scan capture → ingestion → case creation → workflow end-to-end, across real devices (laptop, scanner stations, tablets) - not just the browser
- Turn field issues into tests: Reproduce production bugs, reduce them to minimal repro steps with logs and environment details, file engineer-ready reports, then write the regression test that locks the fix in
- Build QA tooling: Scripts for log analysis, test data setup, environment checks - whatever makes testing faster and more reliable
What we are looking for
- 2+ years in QA/test engineering, with hands-on automated testing experience - Playwright strongly preferred (Cypress/Selenium acceptable if you can ramp fast)
- Comfortable working on a production floor with non-technical operators - calm, patient, clear (This is a must)
- Solid JavaScript/TypeScript — you write and debug test code, not just record it; comfortable in Git and CI
- You think in test design: coverage tradeoffs, flake management, what to automate vs. explore manually
- Systematic debugger: you isolate variables across app, device, and network layers, and write reports an engineer can act on without a follow-up call
- Reliable on-site presence in Orange County; some flexibility around release windows
Nice to have
- API testing (Postman, or code-level against REST APIs)
- SQL for verifying data state behind the UI
- Dental lab, medical device, or manufacturing environment experience
