Position Overview
A Project Lead, Senior Architect at Akb leads highly detailed, complex residential projects, delivering exceptional project management including technical documentation, consultant coordination and superior client services.
Key Responsibilities
Effectively manage projects from Pre-Design through to completion of the Construction Administration phases
Effectively coordinate architectural documentation with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and other consultants as required
Act as primary point of contact for projects during all stages, leading communication with clients, and proactively managing and coordinating contractor,
consultants and building and permitting officials
Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges
Analyze applicable building codes, by-laws, other authorities with jurisdiction, and technical documents
Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI's during construction
Mentor junior and intermediate staff members and contribute to the ongoing improvement of internal processes and office culture
Integrate sustainable practices into all projects
Qualifications
Excellent communications skills
Strong design sensibility, technical skills and problem-solving ability
Highly detail-oriented
Flexible and able to juggle multiple projects
Ability to work well with team members, consultants and clients
Positive attitude and motivated to achieve
Proficient with Revit and Enscape
Education & Experience
15+ years of post-graduate work experience in an architectural practice
Professional degree in architecture
Registered architect or working towards licensure
Project management experience, including managing an internal team
Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (Part 9)
Ability to navigate various city/townships Zoning By-laws,
Authorities with Jurisdiction, Building Permit Applications and Committee of Adjustment
Experience and expertise in construction documentation, including envelope detailing for high-end, custom single-family residential projects
Experience with contract administration, shop drawing review, as well as in office reviews and reporting
Project budgeting experience regarding project phases and internal hours budgets, as well as contractor pricing exercises, construction tenders, and value engineering
Experience producing clear, visually engaging design documents including drawings, renderings, and presentation files
Working knowledge of sustainable practices during all project phases
Remote work is not an option for this role.

Member of the Ontario Association of Architects
Member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada
LEED and/or Passive House accreditation and knowledge of sustainable technologies
