Duties The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a Temporary Full Time Support Counsellor – Nights, Peter Willis Residence. This role is a vital part of our Justice Services program, assisting federally sentenced men to transition to the community by offering individual counselling, group programs, and employment services, as well as providing clients with the skills and supports they need to achieve a productive, pro-social lifestyle.

What You’ll Do

- Assist with established Support Plans and help clients develop the skills and resources they need to enhance their social functioning
- Monitor, distribute and document medication
- Intervene and mediate client disputes
- Assist in conducting irregular urinalysis and breathalyzer testing
- Varied administrative tasks
- Wide-ranging cleaning tasks

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

- Have a college diploma in the Human/Social Services field
- Have a minimum of 1 year combined student placement and/or paid experience working in a therapeutic and/or correctional residential setting or with individuals involved in the justice system
- Be able to be granted Reliability Status
- Be proficient in MS Office and be familiar with databases
- Access to reliable transportation, as some travel may be required
- Ability to manage exposure to vicarious traumatic stress
