About MacKinnon Magnetics

MacKinnon Magnetics is an Ontario-based manufacturer of low-voltage dry-type transformers ranging from 15 to 800 kVA. Engineering, production, assembly, and testing are completed in-house at our Concord, Ontario manufacturing facility.

MacKinnon Magnetics is currently accepting applications for an upcoming three-week, paid manufacturing training program offered in connection with a Government of Ontario-supported training initiative.

This program is designed for individuals interested in gaining practical, hands-on exposure to transformer manufacturing, machining, assembly, welding, and general manufacturing operations.

No previous manufacturing or machining experience is required. Beginners and individuals looking to develop new technical skills are encouraged to apply.

What You Will Learn

Participants will receive hands-on instruction and guidance from experienced MacKinnon Magnetics team members, including manufacturing professionals and machinists working directly within our production facility.

Training may include

- Transformer manufacturing fundamentals and stages of production
- Safe use of manufacturing tools, machinery, and equipment
- Basic machine operation and production processes
- Welding fundamentals
- Manufacturing and transformer assembly techniques
- Transformer components and general factory procedures
- Forklift and overhead crane training
- Workplace health and safety procedures
- Safe work practices within an active manufacturing environment

Program Details Location: MacKinnon Magnetics, 2 Bessemer Court, Concord,



Ontario

Program Length: 3 weeks

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Lunch: 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Cohort Size: Approximately 5–8 participants

MacKinnon Magnetics plans to operate multiple training cohorts throughout the year, subject to scheduling and available program space.

Training Stipend

Eligible participants may receive a total potential training stipend of $2,160 gross , less applicable taxes and deductions, based on successful completion of program milestones.

- $1,440 gross following successful completion of the first two weeks of training
- $720 gross following successful completion of the third and final week of training

Stipend eligibility is subject to satisfactory attendance, active participation, completion of required documentation, and successful completion of the applicable training milestones. Approved payments will be processed according to MacKinnon Magnetics' regular payment-processing schedule.

Safety Requirements

Participants must have CSA-approved steel-toe safety footwear before participating in hands-on manufacturing activities.





Participants who need to purchase safety footwear may be eligible for reimbursement of up to $150, including applicable taxes , upon submission of an acceptable receipt.

Safety glasses will be provided by MacKinnon Magnetics.

Previous machining, welding, transformer, or manufacturing experience is not required .

Certificate of Completion

Participants who successfully complete the full three-week training program will receive a MacKinnon Magnetics Certificate of Completion recognizing their participation and training.

This opportunity is a short-term paid training program and is not a permanent employment position.

Participation in the program does not guarantee future employment with MacKinnon Magnetics or another employer.

The purpose of the program is to provide participants with practical training, industry exposure, and transferable manufacturing skills that may support future employment opportunities.
