Job Overview

We are looking for a Transportation Planner/Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for load planning, coordinating daily transportation operations, assigning loads to drivers and contractors, and working closely with the sales team to ensure loads are booked and covered efficiently.

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced transportation environment while balancing driver availability, routes, and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Book and coordinate transportation loads.
- Assist the sales team with booking and securing loads.
- Assign loads to company drivers and contractors based on availability, location, equipment, and operational requirements.
- Plan and coordinate driver schedules and routes.
- Distribute miles as fairly and efficiently as possible among drivers and contractors.
- Monitor driver and contractor utilization and help minimize empty miles.
- Coordinate with drivers, contractors, customers, and the sales team regarding load schedules and changes.
- Make adjustments to load assignments when operational circumstances change.
- Monitor daily operations to ensure loads are picked up and delivered as scheduled.
- Maintain accurate records of loads, assignments, and schedules.




- Identify scheduling or operational issues and take appropriate action to keep operations running smoothly.
- Support management and the sales team with transportation planning and operational decisions.
- Perform other duties related to transportation planning and operations as required.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in transportation, dispatch, logistics, load planning, or fleet operations is preferred.
- Experience in the trucking industry is a strong asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple loads and drivers simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and make effective decisions in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn transportation management and dispatch software.
- Knowledge of Canadian trucking operations and routes is an asset.

Pay: $60,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
