Duties
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks to transport freight over short and long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, including checking brakes, lights, tires, and load security to ensure optimal safety standards
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, pickups, mileage logs, and freight manifests for compliance and record-keeping purposes
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
- Perform minor automotive repairs or troubleshooting as needed to keep trucks in top condition
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts to load or unload freight safely and efficiently
Experience
- Valid Class 1 commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably with freight transportation across diverse routes
- Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment like forklifts or similar machinery
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy vehicle operation and freight handling
- Ability to perform basic automotive repairs or troubleshooting on trucks and related equipment
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and load management
