Job Title: Truck Driver – Short Distance
Job Summary
Truck drivers operate heavy trucks to transport goods and materials on the short distance/local routs. Truck drivers will perform some shipping/receiving activities such as loading and unloading trucks, prepare documentations, performing safety checks on the vehicles
Responsibility

- Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy.
- Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements.
- Familiarity with McLaren’s Business Management System (BMS).
- Operate and drive company fleet to transport goods and material to destinations.
- Oversee all aspects of vehicles, such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of cargo.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspection of vehicle systems and equipment such as tires, lights, and brakes.
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Record cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and other information in logbook.
- Exhibit safe and courteous driving habits which exclude preventable motor vehicle collisions.
- Maintain an acceptable level of performance for scheduled pick-up and delivery times.
- Report defects, accidents or violations
- Coordinate the staging of shipments according to customer pull signals or shipping schedules.
- Prepare all shipping documentation in accordance with customer and export requirements including barcodes, commercial invoices, bills-of-lading, and packing lists.
- Arrange shipment of material to required destination in a timely manner.
- Drive hi-lo and load/unload trucks as required.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- HS Diploma and at least 1 year of related experience. CDL-B license required. CDL-A preferred.
Required Skills/Experience
- Intermediate computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Previous automotive/shipping background preferred
- Basic knowledge of MRP and computer systems.
- Knowledge of IFS would be beneficial.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to operate a forklift. Must be licensed.
- Able to work as a team.
- Able to work quickly and efficiently.
- Positive attitude with high energy.
