Role Description The Wine Sales and Event Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based at Calabria Market & Wine Store in Winnipeg, MB. This role is responsible for guiding customers in wine selection, organizing and providing tastings, and offering informed recommendations that match customer preferences and budgets. The specialist supports daily store operations, including merchandising wine displays, monitoring inventory levels, and maintaining clean, welcoming service areas.

A key part of the role is planning, promoting, and executing in-store wine events and tastings, addisying liscebsee(wholesale clients) with otders, menu selection, training etc…The specialist also assists with point-of-sale transactions, responds to customer inquiries in person, by email and by phone, and contributes to basic promotional activities, such as in-store signage or social media content.

Qualifications





- Wine and food knowledge: strong interest in wine, willingness to learn about regions, varietals, and food pairings; prior experience in wine sales, hospitality, or retail is an asset.
- Customer service and communication: ability to engage customers, explain products clearly, and provide inclusive, respectful service

- Sales and merchandising: comfort with recommending products, upselling when appropriate, and maintaining attractive, organized product displays.
- Event coordination: experience or interest in planning and running events, tastings, or promotions, including setup, execution, guest interaction, and post-event follow-up.
- Operational skills: reliability in handling cash and POS systems, computet systems, basic math skills, and attention to detail with inventory and stock rotation.
- Physical requirements: ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and move cases of wine and food products as part of daily duties.
- Workstyle and availability: ability to work full-time on-site, including evenings and weekends as needed; self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Education and additional assets: high school diploma or equivalent; courses or certifications in wine such as WSET or similar and hospitality are considered an advantage.
