Role Description The Yard & Shop Laborer role at SRP Projects Ltd. is a full-time, on-site position based in Calgary, AB. This position supports the day-to-day operation of SRP’s yard and shop, including material sorting and processing, scale operations, equipment operation, general labor, shop duties, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized facility.

Responsibilities include sorting and separating incoming waste and recyclable materials, assisting with the operation of the truck scale, directing trucks and equipment throughout the yard, and operating equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and other machinery when trained and authorized.

The role also supports general shop operations, including cleaning and organizing work areas, handling and storing tools and materials, assisting with basic equipment and vehicle maintenance, washing equipment and trucks, maintaining supplies, completing general housekeeping,



and assisting mechanics, operators, drivers, and other employees as required.

Employees will complete daily equipment inspections and required safety documentation, identify and report hazards or equipment concerns, follow traffic and equipment procedures, and use required personal protective equipment. This is a hands-on operational position that requires reliability, initiative, attention to safety, and the ability to move between different yard and shop duties throughout the day.

Qualifications

- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, cleaning, sorting materials, and remaining active throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working around heavy equipment, commercial vehicles, waste and recyclable materials, tools, machinery, and active yard operations.
- Ability or willingness to learn to safely operate equipment such as skid steers, loaders, and other yard equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or previous experience assisting with equipment, vehicles, tools, or shop work is considered an asset.
- Comfortable completing general shop duties including cleaning, organizing, washing equipment, material handling, and assisting with basic maintenance tasks.
- Solid awareness of workplace safety practices and the ability to follow company procedures, traffic controls, equipment requirements, and PPE requirements.
- Reliable work ethic with strong punctuality, accountability, initiative, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors year-round in varying weather and working conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions, identify hazards, communicate concerns, and help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workplace.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are considered assets.
