Title: Yard Manager
Reports to: Branch Manager
Location: 170 Beverly St, Cambridge, ON
Position Summary: The Yard Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the yard. The Yard Manager must be able to effectively communicate and delegate to Yard Staff and manage and prioritize customer requirements. The Yard Manager is responsible for keeping effective and efficient Yard operations pertaining to serving customers, managing staff, awareness and understanding of employee wages, sales, sales growth, and margins.

Administration:
- Follows proper procedure when opening and closing the yard.
- Responsible for maintaining branch appearance according to branch standards guidelines.
- Ensures that Daily circle checks are being preformed and any issues reported.
- Controls Inventory Management through cycle counts and stock adjustments.
- Ensures that inventory is stored in such a way that product loss is prevented due to human error or weather.
- Efficiently organizes deliveries using company vehicles and third party services (where applicable) to best satisfy customers and branch KPIs.
- Coordinates fleet maintenance and all service (regular, preventative and annual). - Level 2
Customer Relationship Management:
- Follow Turkstra's approach to World Class Customer Service.
- Supports the Turkstra Lumber Build-it-Better program.
- Participates and encourages social media opportunities and assists the Marketing Team by providing relevant content for web and social media.
- Develops and maintains conflict resolution skills, effectively de-escalates customer issues.
- Assists customers by providing useful knowledge of products and services; using resources where required.
- Processes customer orders by locating and loading product into customer and company vehicles, exercising proper load building, securing and unloading techniques.
- Effectively promotes Turkstra Mill, Truss Plant, Lawson Lumber, and Turkstra Design Centre, with customers.
Financial Objectives:
- Encourages and educates staff to achieve target expense control (efficiency, shrink, etc.).
- Works with Management team to achieve branch sales KPIs.
- Seeks to earn 100% of the customer's business (100% wallet share).
- Assists management team with completing timesheets if and when necessary.
- Takes lead in year end inventory to ensure ease of inventory day for yard and warehouse by proper labeling all year round.
- Assists management team with developing schedules, filling any gaps and ensuring adequate staffing levels without overages. - Level 3
Hire, Train, Retain:
- Displays an ability to manage employees through coaching, counselling and constructive development.
- Aids in overseeing appropriate training of yard staff when and where appropriate.
- Ensures day to day tasks are being distributed to teammates through effective/consistent delegation.
- Participates in recruitment and selection. - Level 3
- Participate in effective one on one meetings and reviews with yard staff/drivers. - Level 3
Professional Development:
- LBMAO Foreman training.
- K8 for Foreman training.
- Forklift and Bobcat license (where applicable).
- Maintains an up to date knowledge regarding the Highway Traffic Act.
- Develops and maintains management skills regarding delegation, time management and leading by example.
- Complex Load Builder training.
- Safely and effectively operates a forklift and or Skid steer.
- Cross-trained to work in store at full CSP level. - Level 4
Strategic Initiatives:
- Works with management team and Purchasing to develop proper 'Par' stock levels for ordering product. - Level 2
- Identifies opportunities for merchandising yard and warehouse to encourage sale of slower moving product. - Level 2
- Identifies new products to stock in yard or warehouse using product and customer feedback and consulting with management team. - Level 2
- Takes lead in CapEx quotes for major building maintenance or fleet maintenance. - Level 4
- Develops Training and development plans for all yard staff to allow advancement where possible. - Level 4
- Develops innovative ways to get rid of waste, cull, skids and damaged product. - Level 4
- Takes on strategic initiatives as assigned by the Director of Operations. - Level 4
Additional Duties:
- Responsible for any and all other duties as may be required from time to time in accordance with proper training and certification requirements.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience Requirements
- Completion of Secondary School. Vocational training is an asset.
- Experience or knowledge with related products and services.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset.

Physical Requirements:
- Minimum lift requirement of 66 lbs

Pay: $975.00-$1,225.00 per week
