Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Manager, Staff Scheduling, and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital (SBH), the Scheduling Assistant is responsible for assisting clinical units and departments with scheduling and related functions in support of sufficient staffing levels on a 24‑hour basis; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Experience
- Grade 12 or equivalent required.
- One (1) year experience working with ESP or other computerized staffing system performing extensive staffing and scheduling functions for an organization.
- Customer service experience where the primary function was acting as a direct point of contact for customers via telephone and/or in person required.
- Experience working in a quick‑paced, high‑demand environment required.
- Experience with Excel required.
- Preference will be given to those candidates with previous staff scheduling experience.
Education
- Grade 12 or equivalent required.
Certification / Licensure / Registration

Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency with common software applications including spreadsheet, word processing, database and email applications.
- Ability to read,
write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to expertly use ESP effectively and efficiently to replace/schedule staff.
- Ability to retain information of a confidential nature.
- Ability to adhere to and meet strict deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to perform as a team member and seek assistance as necessary.
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Polite and courteous telephone manner.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
