Location: Brantford, ON
Hours: No guaranteed hours – shift schedule would be one of the following lines:
Line 1 - Saturday 4pm-12am and Sunday 4pm to 12am.
Line 2 - Saturday 12am-8am.
Availability required for Statutory Holidays.

The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Part Time Child and Youth Counsellor. This role is a vital part of our George House Team in our Housing Program , supporting individuals aged 14-16 navigating complex challenges in a safe, supportive, bed-based program. We embrace a harm reduction philosophy and work closely with internal and external partners to deliver coordinated, compassionate, and high-impact care.
What You’ll Do
As a Child & Youth Counsellor, you’ll be a key part of a dynamic team helping youth build resilience, develop life skills, and move toward brighter futures. Your role includes:
- Assist youth with day-to-day needs including medication administration, transportation, meal preparation, and maintaining a protected and clean-living environment.
- Implement individualized safety plans and apply Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) strategies to de-escalate situations and maintain a supportive environment.
- Lead and support life skills group, recreational activities, and therapeutic outings to promote social, emotional, and coping skill growth.
- Support youth in developing problem-solving abilities, healthy coping strategies, and constructive peer and staff relationships.
- Complete required daily reports, case notes, and incident documentation in compliance with program standards and licensing requirements.
What You’ll Bring
- Diploma in Child & Youth Work or Social Services (preferred)
- 2+ years of experience (including placements) supporting youth with complex needs—mental health, substance use, homelessness
- Tech-savvy with MS Office and database skills
- Child Welfare Check required
- Must hold a valid G level driver’s license
- Resilience and emotional awareness to manage vicarious trauma
