Note: EFFECTIVE March 1, 2025 all external PSW (Personal Support Worker) hires will be required to be registered with https://hscpoa.Com/public/public-registerCARING FOR THE BODY, MIND & SPIRIT SINCE 1869Clinical Extern (Occupational Therapy), Professional Practice - 1 positionProfessional PracticeParkwood Institute Main - London, ONTemporary Regular Part TimeSalary Range: $20.60 - $20.60 /hourThis is a temporary part‐time position that is anticipated to extend until March 31, 2026, and is subject to the availability of work.Through a patient and family‐centered approach, the Clinical Extern (occupational therapy) will work under the direct and/or indirect supervision of registered staff, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team as an unregulated care provider, to promote and advocate for wellness while ensuring the delivery of holistic, high quality and safe care to patients.This is an exciting chance for occupational therapy students to work in a clinical environment where they can develop their clinical skills and expertise, knowledge, and self‐confidence as they prepare to transition into a regulated health professional. The Externs will work at one of the St. Joseph's Health Care sites.Reporting to the Professional Practice Partnership Program, the Clinical Extern (occupational therapy) will work part‐time hours. October 2026Essential QualificationsStudent in Occupational Therapy enrolled in an academically accredited Occupational Therapy post‐secondary program.Current certificate in Basic Cardiac Life SupportAbility to work independently in patient care areas with direct and indirect supervision from a health professionalAbility to aid with activities of daily living, ROM, mobility, and orientation under the supervision of a regulated health professionalDemonstrated ability to be self‐directed and the ability to work as part of a teamKnowledge of a safety culture in a health care setting in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.Demonstrated problem‐solving, organizational, and time‐management skillsAbility to apply effective body mechanics and lift and transfer skills to meet physical demandsEffective written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skillsDemonstrated flexibility and organizational skillsTeaching and ResearchSt. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital.
