Position Status: Summer Employment (8–10 weeks)
Compensation: $16.75/hour
Start Date: June 29, 2026
Location: Main Street and Dartmouth NS Works Locations

The Opportunity

The YMCA offers career development services to youth, andthis year we are excited to launch Youth Trades Camps. The Trades ConnectProgram introduces youth ages 11–15 to various trades as potential careerpathways. Trades Connect Leaders will be responsible for facilitating andsupervising daily program activities.

Responsibilities

- Careerdevelopment support — Work closely with Nova Scotia Works staff to learnabout career development
- Assistwith advertising the camp and participate in the youth selection process
- Collaboratewith colleagues to finalize agendas and coordinate guest speakers
- Participatein pre‑camp training and support both on‑site and off‑site activities
- Helpresolve conflicts and promote a positive, respectful environment
- Supportparticipants in completing camp activities and assignments
- EnsureYMCA safety protocols and Child Safeguarding Practices are followed
- Demonstrateinterest in learning about trades and career pathways
- Organizesnacks, transportation, and supplies for camp operations




- Completedaily reports documenting activities, attendance, and challenges
- Communicateeffectively with staff, participants, parents, and community partners
- Workcollaboratively in a fast‑paced team workplace

Qualifications & Skills

- ClearCriminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (if 18+)
- ClearChild Abuse Registry Check
- ValidFirst Aid and CPR certification
- Mustbe currently enrolled as a student and returning to school in the fall
