We are seeking a Research Assistant to join Dr. Sarah Munce’s lab at Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Munce's program of research focuses on improving transitional care for youth with complex needs and their families, advancing the meaningful engagement of young people and families in research, and strengthening research methods and reporting guidelines. Her work draws on implementation science, mixed methods, co-design, and patient-oriented research.

Description The Research Assistant, reporting to the Principal Investigator (Dr. Sarah Munce) and research manager (Dorothy Luong) will support multiple projects across the lab. Current projects include methodological research to develop a reporting guideline for studies using co-design and updating a reporting guideline for mixed methods research. Other on-going projects include research related to patient and family engagement in learning health systems; and the Canadian Learning and Innovation Network for Kids and Caregivers (CANLINK), a national initiative focused on identifying, prioritising, and supporting the implementation of meaningful patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs) in pediatric healthcare. The Research Assistant will contribute to recruitment, project coordination, data collection and management, evidence synthesis, and knowledge translation activities across these projects, as well as other on-going lab activities.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate project meetings and activities, maintain project documentation and timelines, and assist with research-related administrative tasks





Recruit participants through approved means

Develop, program, distribute, and manage surveys in REDCap (or other related software) following established research protocols

Coordinate and support qualitative data collection

Assist with scoping and systematic reviews, including screening, data extraction, and analysis, as well as protocol preparation

Assist in preparing and submitting manuscripts to journals for peer review

Assist with knowledge translation and dissemination activities

Other duties as assigned

A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a health-related field. Preference given to completion of a Master's degree.

At least 2 years of research experience in a similar role

Experience engaging with youth, families/caregivers, healthcare providers, researchers, and/or health-system partners; experience in pediatric rehabilitation or healthcare is an asset

Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection, management, and analysis

Familiarity with systematic and scoping reviews

Experience and knowledge of MS Office products and virtual meeting tools (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Zoom)

Solid written and oral communication, organization, time management, and project coordination skills

Ability to take initiative and work independently, while also collaborating effectively as a member of multidisciplinary and multi-knowledge user teams

Experience with REDCap or other research databases is an asset
