In the Genetics Counselor I position, you will be essential in determining genetic risks and guiding families through complex medical information. Collaborating alongside skilled genetic counselors, you will contribute to a significant range of services, from newborn screening to prenatal diagnosis at U of A Hospital. Your role will promote understanding of genetics and foster informed choices among patients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze patients' genetic risk for inherited conditions • Interpret and discuss test results with families • Explain prevention and management options related to genetics • Advocate for patient support services and resources • Educate clinicians and the public about genetics
Requirements: • Completion of Master of Genetic Counseling degree • Eligible for certification with CAGC or ABGC • Excellent organizational and communication abilities • Prior clinical genetic counseling experience preferred • Familiarity with Specimen Gate and Epic is advantageous
