GENERALPURPOSE:

The Cereal Packaging Operator has responsibility to operate and maintainefficient performance of the Cereal Packaging equipment and line to meetproduction standards and customer demands.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Packagesproduct and fills out production, packaging, and quality assurance reports.
- Ensuresthat valuable quality packed products enter the warehouse.
- Checksthat all bags bales and boxes are sealed correctly before leaving packagingarea.
- Performsongoing checks of dates on bags and corrects problems to ensure that each dateon packed materials is legible and correctly dated.
- Ensuresthat all cereal products are correctly transferred from bins or dumpingstations. Gives instructions topersonnel involved in dumping products, as required.
- Stackspacked products on skids according to established patterns.
- Numberspacked skids to provide identification in case of call back due to qualitycontrol.
- Performsquality assurance checks on packed products on shifts if the regular QualityControl person is not available.
- Fillsout Hold/Reject signs on packed skids in the event of off-standard qualitybefore the product enters the warehouse.




- Ensuresa sanitary condition of packaging equipment and workspace while packaging is inprocess.
- Cleanswork area and equipment at end of shift, with all rerun/feed bags emptied at the warehouse dumping station.
- Cleans upand corrects any spills of product in the product transfer system due tochangeovers, plug-ups and broken or leaking systems.
- Mustbe aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
- Worksresponsibly throughout scheduled shifts.
- Responsiblefor compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirementsand company safety standards.
- FollowsGood Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing tasks in productionareas.
- Performsall other related duties and assignments, including training, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Aptitudefor operating computerized packing equipment.
- Self-starter,with the ability to use initiative, but also able to work as part of a team.
- Goodworking relationship with supervisors, warehouse team members and otherdepartmental staff.
- Mechanicalaptitude for diagnosing and solving problems with or without assistance frommaintenance.
- Availablefor shiftwork as required.
