The Executive Underwriter Energy will lead the assessment and underwriting of complex, high-value risks across established and emerging energy sectors. The role is responsible for delivering profitable portfolio growth through disciplined risk selection, technical underwriting excellence and effective management of pricing, terms, capacity and aggregation. As a senior market-facing underwriter, the role will build trusted relationships with brokers, clients and industry partners, identify new business opportunities and develop tailored solutions that respond to evolving technologies and risk profiles. The successful candidate will balance commercial prospect with long‑term portfolio sustainability while helping strengthen the organization’s position in the Energy Transition and Natural Resources market. Whatyou’ll be doing Underwriting and portfolio management Underwrite complex and high-value risks within delegated authority. Evaluate exposures, loss scenarios, risk controls and coverage requirements. Establish appropriate pricing, terms, conditions and capacity. Manage renewals, new business and portfolio performance against agreed targets. Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and comply with governance requirements.



Identify emerging risks and recommend portfolio actions. Energy Transition and Natural Resources expertise Underwrite risks across established and emerging energy sectors, which may include renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, carbon capture, mining and related infrastructure. Assess new technologies, changing risk profiles and evolving operating models. Monitor regulatory, environmental and market developments affecting the portfolio. Collaborate with internal specialists to develop appropriate underwriting solutions. Technical leadership Serve as a technical referral point for complex underwriting matters. Coach and mentor underwriters, supporting the development of technical capability. Share market intelligence, lessons learned and underwriting best practices. Contribute to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite and product development. Support portfolio reviews and strategic planning.
