Join Oxford Learning Thornhill as a part‑time French teacher/tutor and help students improve their French language skills in a supportive small‑group setting.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver lessons to up to three students at a time using the provided curriculum.
- Teach in French, guiding students to develop speaking and comprehension skills.
- Maintain detailed post‑lesson notes and daily communication updates on student progress.
- Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Engage students with interactive coaching techniques and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
- Experience teaching or tutoring French to students in Grades 4–12 (or equivalent).
- Strong written and oral communication skills in French and English.
- Ability to manage up to three students simultaneously and multitask effectively.
- Commitment to teaching evenings Monday‑Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm; availability to continue through the school year and summer is preferred.
- In‑person teaching required; must be able to commute to the Thornhill location.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
- Teaching certification an asset.
- Positive knowledge of the current Grades 4‑12 French core curriculum.
- Experience with vulnerable sector screening.
