Working in the CFA Linear Infrastructure Group, this position in general comprises project and staff management, conceptual planning, assessment, analysis, Class EA study and detailed design and contract document preparation, support during construction and business development/client liaison for water and wastewater infrastructure projects (distribution and transmission watermains, sanitary/storm local and trunk sewers, water and wastewater pumping and storage facilities, stormwater management and drainage works and infrastructure rehabilitation and/or upgrade).Responsibilities:Carry out and manage all aspects of design for water and wastewater infrastructure projectsCollaborate with multidisciplinary design teamsProvide leadership in the assessment and development of detailed designs for projects involving water and wastewater infrastructureUnderstand and apply the current design guidelines, criteria and standards (OPS, OPSD, MECP, Region/Municipal, clients' own, etc.)Develop designs through all design phases, conceptual to detailed designsAnalysis, evaluate appropriate design solutions and design of water and wastewater infrastructurePerform design calculations and documentation for water and wastewater infrastructure projectsSupervise, oversee and review calculations and designs performed by junior engineers, EITs and other technical staffPerform Independent Design Check calculationsDevelop and administer preparation of construction plans for water and wastewater infrastructure projectsCoordinate with and direct CAD production activities for design productionPrepare and review technical reports,



tender documents including technical special provisions to accompany construction plansDevelop quantity and expected construction cost estimates in support of plan, specification and estimate scopes of workPrepare project schedules and budgets, reports on project status including Earned ValuePrepare task project documentation including PMP plan, issues log, risk log, utility matrices, etc.Develop engineering studies, reports and documentationConduct quality control activities for independent review and checking of designsLiaise with relevant agency / regulatory approval agencies and adhere to processes pertaining to municipal engineering projectsLiaise with other project stakeholders including the public through public consultation processes and attending public information meetingsInterface with clients for project delivery, attend client meetings and presentationsCoordination with sub-consultantsLead a project team of engineers including training, development, recruiting and ongoing guidance and mentorship of teamPerform other duties as requiredQualifications:Ten years experience in leading Transmission Watermains and Trunk Sewer Linear ProjectsExperience in rehabilitation large diameter transmission mains and sewer trunks; using established trenchless technologies and productsExperience in micro tunneling and tunneling projectsExperience in sewer and water hydraulic modelingHydraulic transient analysis for large diameter transmission mainsExperience with local municipal systems would be considered an assetAbility to work well with minimal direct supervision and exercise independent judgement and being a "self-starter"
