Role:ILSC ESL Teacher, Residential Juniors Program at UBCReports to:Centre Director, ILSC Junior Camp at UBCProgram:ILSC Summer Juniors Residential Program at UBCDuration of Program:6 weeks – June 29, 2026 to August 7, 2026 (Pre-Training between June 22,2026-June 26, 2026)Location:Vancouver, BCCompensation:$32.02 - $34.85 per hour based on qualifications andexperience, plus a 25% prep-time premiumDescription:ILSC Vancouver Juniors Residential Program at UBC is seeking qualified anddynamic ESL Teachers available to work part time, in a friendly, fast-pacedenvironment. Our students are ages 10-17. Teachers prepare lessons designed to increasestudents' language skills, their accuracy and fluency, appropriate to a broadrange of situations and needs, and in accordance with the ILSC CurriculumGuidelines and Course Outlines. High quality delivery is expected. This is a parttime, fixed-term position consisting of 15 instructional hours per week.Schedule timeline and hourly requirements:Pre-program staff training will take place between June 22, 2026, to June 26, 2026Your weekly work schedule will consist of five mornings per week, Monday-Friday, from 9:00 AM-12:00 PMJob Duties:The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:Teachers prepare lessons designed to increase students' language skills, their accuracyand fluency, appropriate to a broad range of situations and needs, and in accordance withthe ILSC Curriculum Guidelines and Course Outlines. High quality delivery is expected.Teaching 15 hours of English lessons over a five-day week (Monday – Fridaymornings from 9:00 AM-12:00PM)Eliciting students' interests and language needs in an organized wayPreparing lessons using recommended resource materials (or substitutesown resources in consultation with the Centre Director)Creating an atmosphere that encourages all students equally in self-expression, self-reflection, cooperation and leadershipEvaluating student progress and completing academic records as requiredby the Centre Director (i.E., class records of attendance, student reports andprogress reports)Co-operating with the Centre Director and on occasions with third partyagents, colleagues from language agencies, and accrediting Inspectors inthe observation and evaluation of lessonsAssisting with the welcome,



induction and testing of students on the firstmorning of classAttending staff meetings for briefing and discussion of academic andwelfare mattersTeaching methodology and techniques:The teacher is expected to use a range of modern and traditional language learning techniques and methodology including the following:Building students' vocabulary acquisition for formal and informal situations e.G. dialogues, discussion, role-plays, outings Introducing, practicing and reviewing language structures (grammar) using a communicative approachDeveloping communication strategies such as initiating, maintaining, closing of verbal interactions across a wide spectrum of situations drawnfrom daily lifeIncreasing communicative skills through appropriate question and answer techniques, presentations, decision-making, offering feedback to others, analyzing and evaluating situations, negotiating, debating, etc.Shaping pronunciation and speech production towards natural English Supporting and encouraging students to self-correctEvaluating and offering feedback to the students in ways that increase theirself-confidence in using EnglishIncorporating social media and planning age-appropriate language learningactivities to engage and motivate studentsOther duties as assignedEducation and Experience Required:All ESL teachers at the ILSC Juniors Residential Program at UBC must possess the following qualifications:A completed Bachelor's degreeA completed TESL certificate recognized by TESL Canada (or equivalent, e.G. CELTA)Experience teaching and working with students aged 10-17 years old ※Please indicate in your application that you possess the above qualifications. You will be asked to provide proof of completion as a condition of employment.Required:Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without any restriction to work in childcare, primary/secondary school teaching,
