Oxford Learning Oakville South is seeking part‑time teacher‑tutors for its learning centre. The role is ideal for individuals who enjoy teaching the ins and outs of language and social studies while helping elementary students build their skills in these areas.
Position Requirements
Teacher‑tutors work during after‑school and evening hours Monday‑Thursday (3:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and Saturdays (9:00 am – 1:00 pm). A commitment until the end of the term in June is preferred, and continuing through the summer is better. The position is in‑person and requires a reliable presence. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification is an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum
Experience
- Some experience teaching or tutoring at a Kindergarten to Grade 8 (or equivalent) level
- Strong written and oral English communication skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
Responsibilities
- Teach up to three students at a time at different levels
- Deliver instruction in‑person (online is not applicable for this role)
- Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Complete post‑lesson notes and daily student communication updates
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
