Snowflake Data Security Specialist (Contract)

Contract (11 months 28 days) Published 27 days ago AI Snowflake Data Catologing This is a temporary contractor position for an existing vacancy. The Snowflake Data Security Specialist owns the secure day-to-day security operation and governance of the organization's Snowflake environment. This role partners closely with the Security, Data Governance and Privacy teams as well as with the vendors (Snowflake, Collibra, SAP, etc.) to protect the company's most sensitive and business-critical data assets (digital crown jewels), enforce access controls, and maintain a fully governed, audit-ready platform. Key Responsibilities

Security & Crown-Jewel Data Protection

Partner with the security team to identify, safeguard, and continuously monitor the organization's most critical and sensitive data assets Implement and maintain data protection controls including masking policies and row access policies on sensitive objects Support compliance requirements such as Threat Risk Assessment, Security Non-Conformities (SNCs), validate ownership across Sentinel, SailPoint, CyberArk, resolve outstanding dependencies, and maintain audit-readiness, Run and review data classification across schemas and tables; apply object tags to identify sensitive data Configure and manage auto-tagging via classification profiles to apply high-confidence classifiers at scale Link classification tags to tag-based masking and row access policies for automated, consistent enforcement

Support the Snowflake/Collibra integration for cataloging, lineage, classification, policy management, and access-request workflows Coordinate with data stewards on business glossary,



data certification, and policy/tag synchronization between Collibra and Snowflake Enable automated, frictionless access governance and purpose-based access policies Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Design, implement, and maintain the RBAC model — roles, privileges, and entitlements —aligned to least-privilege principles Manage role hierarchies and periodic access reviews with the security team to limit access to sensitive data and meet compliance regulations Implement access controls for data products Platform Operations

Provision and administer accounts, databases, warehouses, and resource monitors Monitor performance, query efficiency, and consumption/cost Support data engineering and analytics teams with environment setup and troubleshooting

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, Mathematics, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. 2-5 years of experience in security, data governance and or, compliance with the skills mentioned below.

Skills & Experience

SQL, database design, and performance optimization Robust grasp of cloud security principles, data classification, and RBAC / access governance Hands-on experience with Snowflake governance features (object tagging, masking / row access policies, classification) Familiarity with Collibra (or comparable governance / catalog tools) and integration workflows Collaborative approach working across security, governance, and data teams

This is a hybrid position requiring the successful candidate to work

on-site in Toronto a minimum of two (2) days per week
