Responsibilities
- Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests, and complaints. Works efficiently and friendly within a diverse team environment.
- Plans and performs all aspects of meat wrapping functions including stocking, displays, and facing. Ensures display presentation and stock levels are maintained.
- Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns, provides substitutions, and ensures price integrity.
- Performs general cleanup duties such as cleaning spills, display fixtures, hosing and sanitizing the department, and keeping the sales floor and back stock area clean of cardboard and debris, as well as disposal of garbage.
- Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
- Ensures the proper care, use, and maintenance of equipment and tools. Reports repair requirements to the Meat Supervisor, Meat, or Duty Manager.
- Responsible for ordering merchandise and supplies.
- Responsible for receiving, including reviewing and verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
- Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.
- While assisting a customer, provided training has been completed, can use a knife and operate meat grinders to provide any ground product to a customer if a meat cutter is unavailable.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 9 or acceptable combination of education and experience.
- Related retail experience, including the provision of customer service.
- Must be fluent in English (CLBA – Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment score of 5 or higher).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous meat wrapping or related retail meat experience.
- Knowledge of ordering and receiving procedures.
- Successful completion of Foodwise #14 within one year.
