Key Responsibilities

- Review drawings, plans, specifications, scopes of work and project requirements to determine the resources and activities required for a project.
- Develop detailed estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor services, transportation and other project-related expenses.
- Obtain and evaluate pricing from suppliers, contractors and subcontractors and incorporate appropriate quotations into project estimates.
- Prepare bids, tenders, quotations and pricing proposals in accordance with project specifications and submission requirements.
- Compare competing quotations and assess pricing, scope, exclusions, schedules and other commercial considerations when evaluating bids.
- Assist management in determining appropriate tender strategies and provide recommendations regarding subcontractors, suppliers and project pricing.
- Maintain organized records of suppliers, subcontractors, material costs, labour rates and historical project pricing for use in future estimates.
- Establish and maintain estimating worksheets,



cost databases and procedures for tracking project costs and pricing information.
- Prepare project cost forecasts and periodically compare estimated costs with actual expenditures to identify significant variances.
- Assist with preparing cost reports, expenditure summaries and financial forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work with project managers, site personnel, engineers, architects, customers, contractors and subcontractors to clarify project requirements and resolve estimating-related issues.
- Review proposed changes to project scope and assess their potential impact on material, labour, equipment and overall project costs.
- Prepare revised estimates and change-order pricing when project requirements, drawings, quantities or specifications change.
- Assist in assessing the financial feasibility of proposed construction methods, material substitutions, design changes and other project adjustments.
