Job Details
Location: Calgary, Alberta. Employment Type: Part time. Pay: $17.00 to $20.00 per hour. Hours: 4:00 pm–8:00 pm (after‑school, evenings) and some Saturdays 10:00 am–3:00 pm. Preference for commitment until the end of the school year and summer. Position is in‑person; relocation packages not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.
Position Requirements
- Strong background in spoken and written French and English.
- Comfortable teaching up to Grade 9 level; Grade 12 preferred.
- Instruction conducted in French.
- Reliable attendance; ability to teach up to three students in small groups.
- Commuting ability to Calgary Acadia area.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or comparable certification in a relevant field.
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
- Teaching certification an asset.
- Valuable knowledge of Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum.
Experience
- Experience teaching/tutoring French at Grade 9–12 (or equivalent) level.
- Strong English written and oral communication skills.
- Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
Responsibilities (Position Details)
- Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
- Deliver lessons online and in‑person (though the role is designated as in‑person).
- Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Fill in post‑lesson notes.
- Complete daily student communication updates.
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
