Become a Sessional Lecturer I at University of Toronto Mississauga, teaching Cultural Astronomy. Engage students in archaeoastronomy and ethnoastronomy from January to April 2027.
This part-time teaching role requires a Ph.D. in Astronomy and excellence in teaching. You will lead discussions on cultural interpretations of celestial events and methods used in ancient and up-to-date navigation. Responsibilities include course preparation, content delivery, and assessment of students, as well as overseeing TA support based on enrollment. Ensuring a rich learning experience in-person is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and teach university credit course content
• Develop, administer, and mark assignments and exams




• Calculate and submit final grades for students
• Supervise TA's and maintain regular office hours
• Engage effectively with students in discussions
Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Astronomy or related field
• Proven teaching excellence in similar subjects
• Strong mastery of cultural astronomy concepts
• Documentation of past teaching efficacy required
• Sample lecture may be requested during assessment
