Position Title: Job Search Assistant (SummerPositions)
Reports To: Manager, YMCA Nova Scotia Works
Position Status: Summer Employment (8–10 weeks)
Compensation: $18.00/hour

The Opportunity
The YMCA provides employment support services to both jobseekers and employers. We provide one-to-one and group services including needsassessments, career planning, job search support, and job development services.
Reporting to the Manager, the Job Search Assistant supportsyouth ages 13–16 in learning about career development through the Head Startprogram. The Job Search Assistant will also help job seekers who come into theresource centres for services.
Responsibilities
- Workclosely with Nova Scotia Works staff to learn about the day-to-dayoperations of NS Works
- Workin the resource centre, signing clients in, printing jobs for the jobboard, and helping clients with faxing, photocopying, scanning, andcomputer use
- Respondto incoming phone calls and online inquiries
- Assistclients with updating resumes, online job searching, and job applications
- ReviewHead Start applications for the summer job search program
- Selectyouth participants and ensure their paperwork is completed and up to date
- Workwith the Head Start Coordinator to ensure all equipment is ready forvirtual training
- Assistwith the facilitation of Head Start materials
- Providesupervision and guidance to youth attending the job search camp
Qualifications & Skills
- CriminalRecord and Vulnerable Sector Check (if over 18), with the ability toprovide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable SectorCheck, Child Abuse Registry Check, and proof of First Aid and CPR training
- Thisis a Canada Summer Jobs-funded position. Youth between the ages of 15–30are eligible to apply.
