Position Overview

Perform manual SMAW (stick) welding on pressure piping to code requirements. This is a hand position working with company-supplied equipment and rigs, not a rig welder role.

Key Responsibilities
Lay out, fit, and weld carbon steel
Run SMAW root, hot pass, fill, and cap passes to x-ray quality standards
Weld in all positions
Select, store, and handle electrodes per procedure, including proper rod oven
Read and work from isometrics & weld procedure specifications (WPS)
Prep joints — bevel, grind, clean, and verify fit-up and alignment
Set machine parameters and monitor preheat and interpass temperatures as specified
Follow site safety requirements and participate in hazard assessments

Qualifications
Valid B Pressure ticket (ABSA)



in positive standing
Current SMAW pressure qualifications for the positions and materials required
Journeyman Welder certificate
CWB and additional pressure tickets considered an asset
Proven ability to pass x-ray and destructive testing
Standard safety tickets: CSTS or PST

Working Conditions
Shop by hand or site company provide welding rig
Physically demanding work requiring extended periods of standing, bending, and kneeling

Pay: $50.00-$55.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 50.0 per week
