Job Posting: Educational Assistant – Homeschool / Unschooling Program

Position Overview

We are seeking a patient, compassionate, and motivated Educational Assistant or experience required to support a 9-year-old boy in a full-time homeschool program that follows an unschooling approach.

We value a learning environment that is child-led, adaptable, strengths-based, and relationship-focused. This position is ideal for someone who understands that learning doesn’t always look traditional and is comfortable adapting to the child’s interests & pace.

Key Responsibilities

Support learning through a child-led unschooling approach

Encourage curiosity, exploration, and real-world learning opportunities

Assist with literacy, numeracy, and interest-based projects as they naturally arise

Provide emotional regulation support and promote positive coping strategies

Help maintain daily routines while allowing flexibility

Facilitate community outings, hands-on activities, and experiential learning

Foster a calm, respectful, and supportive learning environment

Communicate progress,



observations, and successes with parents

Qualifications

Experience working with children with diverse learning needs

Background in education, educational assistance, child development, or related field (preferred)

Understanding of or openness to unschooling / alternative education models

Patient, adaptable, and emotionally attuned

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Valid driver’s license (fuel reimbursed)

First Aid/CPR certification is an asset
