Overview

Part time English & Math Teacher/Tutor – Oxford Learning Unionville, Markham, Ontario. Employment Type: Part Time. Pay: $18.00 to $21.00 per hour.

Position

Oxford Learning Unionville is seeking part-time teacher-tutors for a role in our learning centre. This position is ideal for someone who loves working with students, teaches language skills, and helps students build English and Math abilities. Teachers-Tutors do not have to prepare lesson plans before class, as all lessons are pre-planned. Applicants will be fully trained in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Schedule

All Teacher-Tutors work during after-school and evening hours (4:00pm - 8:30pm) and Saturdays (9:00am - 1:30pm). A commitment for the school year is preferred; continuing through the summer is a plus. This role is in-person and requires commuting to the Unionville location. No relocation package is offered. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory.

Requirements

We encourage you to apply if you have the majority of the following requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
- Fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
- Teaching certification is an asset
- Good knowledge of the current Grade 1 to 8 English & Math curriculum; knowledge of Grade 9 to Grade 12 curriculum is a bonus

Experience





- Some experience teaching/tutoring at a Grade 1 to 12 (or equivalent) level
- Strong English written and oral communication skills
- Strong Math skills and the ability to guide students’ understanding
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time

Responsibilities

- Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels
- Teach online and in-person
- Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
- Fill in post-lesson notes
- Complete daily student communication updates
- Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
