Responsibilities

- Safely transport students to and from school on all student attendance days.
- Regularly clean the bus.
- Adhere to protected bus driving procedures and PPE protocols.
- Advise parents of route changes and keep parents informed.
- Communicate regularly with school administration and the Transportation Department regarding student conduct.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections as required by The Traffic Safety Act.
- Ensure bus maintenance standards are maintained and report mechanical deficiencies to the garage in a timely manner.
- Provide casual employees with orientation to the bus, route, and route-specific rules.
- Promote the division’s vision, mission, values, and goals.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

- Minimum Class 5 license with School Bus “S” endorsement.




- Possess and maintain a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
- Previous experience working with children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong cognitive ability to make sound decisions.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to deal with a broad range of students, staff, and members of the general public.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good physical condition.
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally.
- Ability to exert up to 20 lbs of force frequently.
- Ability to exert up to 10 lbs of force constantly.

- Base wage $14,692.70 to $15,909.36 per hour plus $0.2205 per kilometre for distance over 80 km and bus expense allowances. Estimated route approximately 172 km.
