Position Summary

Shipping Assistant is a key function for organizational success at Sherwood Steel Ltd. Some of the key functions include; creating and fostering working relationships with key external stakeholders, recording movement of materials and supplies, and coordinating between the production shop, job sites and field staff on the shipment of materials. Other responsibilities include:

- Create bills of lading.
- Print and compile outbound shipping packages including bills of lading, rebar cut lists, drawings, mill test certificates and invoice.
- Notify carriers, coordinate outbound freight and record shipment data for reporting and accounting purposes.
- Maintain customer relationships.
- Process customer orders and payments.
- Inbound call management and phone coverage.
- Other duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications

- 1 -2 years’ experience in Shipping roles preferred.
- Proficient English language skills, solid computer skills and customer service skills
- Administration or Office Education Certificate preferred.
- Experience in sales or customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word in particular) and Google Suite.

Experience in aSa/Sage software, and the ability to read/understand construction documents would be considered an asset.
