Classroom Supervisor (Unqualified Teacher)

We are looking for post-secondary students who are currently enrolled in Concurrent Education Program (Year 1 to 5) or in Year 1 of a Consecutive Faculty of Education program or Internationally Trained Educators/ Out of Province Trained Educators in the process of obtaining their Ontario College of Teachers' accreditation or Individuals with Related Work Experience

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board serves over 30,000 learners and provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12 and adult learners) across the Waterloo Region.

Position Summary:

Incumbents in this role will provide daily temporary support in the classroom in the event qualified occasional teaching staff are not available to fill a permanent teacher vacancy from September to June. The role ensures continuity of faith-based learning and student safety in both elementary and secondary school environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:





- Be available on short notice to replace absent teachers on an emergency basis where no qualified occasional teacher is available. Follow instructions left by classroom teacher and/or the Principal/Vice-Principal.
- Supervise elementary and/or secondary students in the classroom and other indoor and outdoor spaces ensuring a protected, secure and engaging learning environment at all times.
- Use established classroom management strategies to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with school staff to follow all safety protocols, emergency procedures, and established school routines.
- Maintain awareness of students' individual medical and behavioural needs and ensure all such information is handled with strict confidentiality.
- Promote a positive learning environment by encouraging student engagement, enthusiasm, and a constructive attitude toward classroom activities.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and respond to classroom needs with patience, flexibility, and adaptability.

Candidate Requirements:

- All candidates will need to provide a Roman Catholic Baptismal Certificate.
- Preference will be giving Individuals in the following order:




- Individuals enrolled in the Faculty of Education Program.
- Internationally trained educators and out of province trained educators who are working through the Ontario College of Teachers' Accreditation process.
- Individuals with experience working with and supervising children (ages 3-18) or who have successfully completed post-secondary education
