The Position
Job Title: Family Engagement and Resource Coordinator

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent Position

Work Arrangement: Hybrid role, a combination of work from home and in-office

Position Overview
The Family Engagement and Resource Coordinator is a passionate individual responsible for direct service to clients as a first point of contact with Kindred, as well as providing resourcing to agency and community clients. Providing administrative and clinical support through intake functions, this role will also engage in supporting agency wide programs in various other duties as needed. The coordinator will be a skilled customer service provider and resource specialist with experience in a mental health setting. Being able to work from a strength-based and trauma-informed approach is a key function of this position. The Family Engagement and Resource Coordinator is integral in providing pertinent information of all programming offered within the agency and the community at large. The coordinator will demonstrate a strong awareness and commitment to Kindred philosophy and direction, by working collaboratively with external stakeholders to provide meaningful client service. This position is full-time with flexible hours, including at least 1 evening per week and infrequent Saturday’s.

Accountabilities
Client Serving (75%)
Demonstrate a high standard of care as a welcoming first point of contact for prospective Kindred clients presenting with a range of concerns and seeking counselling services, including individual, couple, and family therapy,



parenting services, and referrals to community resources
Use a relational, trauma-informed, and strength-based approach to engage potential clients in alignment with Kindred’s guiding principle of offering something of value to everyone who contacts the agency
Assess the unique needs of clients to navigate systems, provide advocacy, support and referrals
Support the booking of client appointments when needed in a timely, affordable, and accessible manner
Provide consultation and training to students, interns and staff with a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental approach
Provide crisis de-escalation, suicide prevention support, safety plan development, and supportive listening to assist individuals presenting with a range of concerns

Administrative (10%)
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete client engagement records through consistent data collection and entry in the client database
Maintain resource database and providing agency wide updates
Maintain strong working relationships with community partners and other agencies within the sector
Participate in team meetings, peer observations, training, and supervision to support professional development and reflective practice
Maintain working knowledge of current community resources that work to support the culturally diverse population served
Work collaboratively with peers and supervisor to ensure service delivery is aligned and consistent with best practice
Attend community events, including resource fairs and meetings, to build knowledge of community resources and share information about Kindred’s services
Participation in agency initiatives and maintenance of organizational culture
Maintain critical communication with supervisor regarding any risk, program challenges, or program updates as needed

Other Duties (5%)

Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in social work or related Human Services field or a diploma with experience aligned with position;
Assessment,



intake and referral experience through the lens of a “case manager” mindset
Demonstrate an ability to work with complex family systems and skills in crisis intervention;
Capacity to serve a wide range of clients presenting with a variety of concerns
Experience in strength-based and trauma-informed approach;
Well-developed sense of professional ethics and strong understanding of the importance of client confidentiality;
Ability to document client contact and engagement;
Ability to engage and collaborate with external partners and systems;
Experience with diverse populations including Indigenous and/or immigrant families is an asset;
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize in a dynamic and rapid-paced environment;
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Flexibility to work some evenings;
Takes a posture of Cultural humility in working with diverse populations;
Working knowledge of community resources
