SMS Equipment is seeking a knowledgeable and business-focused Senior Legal Counsel / Associate General Counsel to support a broad range of legal matters across the organization. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, HR, and leadership to support contracts, governance, and regulatory compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative legal professional who thrives in a dynamic, operational environment.Work Location: Acheson, ABAnnual Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experienceWork Arrangement: On-siteSchedule: Monday to FridayWhat You'll DoProvide legal advice and guidance on a wide range of corporate, commercial, and operational mattersDraft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor, customer, and service contractsSupport business leaders in identifying legal risks and developing mitigation strategiesEnsure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies across jurisdictionsAssist with dispute resolution, including managing external counsel where requiredSupport corporate governance activities, including documentation, filings, and policy developmentPartner with cross-functional teams (HR, Finance, Operations) to provide timely legal supportContribute to continuous improvement of legal processes, templates, and best practicesWhat You BringYou are a qualified legal professional with strong experience in corporate and commercial law, combined with the ability to provide practical, business-oriented advice. You bring sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the organization. Other requirements include:Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (JD)
