Salary Range: $80,000.00 To $90,000.00 Annually

This position is covered under the HEABC wage levelling. Please note the wage is currently being adjusted and topped up by the government and the displayed wage is therefore reflective of such initiative.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Reporting to the Director of Care and/or designate theDietitian will be responsible for the nutritional management of the residentswithin the facility through the provision of a quality meal service andassurance that clinical standards as outlined in the Community Care Licensingrequirements are met.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include but notlimited to;

Be an engaged team-oriented team player, developing and maintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen the organizational culture and purpose.

Adhere to the Ministry of Health’s Adult Care Regulations and legislation.

Develop a nutrition care plan for each resident as part of the resident’s overall care plan within two weeks of the resident’s admission.

Review nutrition care plans at least once within 12 weeks of admission or more often as needed

Monitor the nutrition care plan to ensure implementation

Revise the nutrition care plan in response to changes in a resident’s needs

Attend care conferences, food user committee meetings and other meetings as required





Ensure that meals and snacks meet the requirements of the most recent edition of Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating; and as much as possible take into consideration the resident’s dining and food preferences, religious and cultural customs.

Establish policies and procedures with respect to resident meal service and nutritional care.

Conduct nutrition and food service audits in accordance with the schedule provided by the appropriate legislation.

Develop documentation and reporting systems to maintain accurate records for menus, audits and education.

Participate in staff education regarding nutrition, mealtime management issues and food safety.

Liaise with other members of the interdisciplinary team and community services.

Collaborate with the food services coordinator as required.

Conduct nutrient analysis of menu items as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Member in good standing with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.

Bachelorof Science Degree in Food and Nutrition and the completion of an accreditedinternship program.

Recentclinical experience in geriatric nutrition is an asset.

All successfulapplicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable toProvincial guidelines.

Skillsand Abilities:

Excellentinterpersonal skills and demonstrated ability for effective communication withmembers of the interdisciplinary team, residents and families.

Demonstratedwritten and verbal clinical skills.

Knowledgeof clinical nutrition principles as related to the geriatric population.

Excellentproblem solving skills with global perspective when developing nutrition careplans.

Travelmay be a requirement of this position.
