Valard Construction is seeking a skilled Estimator specialized in substations, based in Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, or Toronto. If you have extensive experience in electrical utility construction and estimating Battery Energy Storage Systems, we want to hear from you.

This estimator role requires a strong foundation in compiling accurate cost estimates and assessing resources needed for successful project execution. You will review proposals, validate estimates, and ensure all components are integrated effectively. Robust communication skills are essential as you’ll interface with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed project estimates including quantity take-offs
• Review designs and incorporate historical cost data




• Format estimates according to Owner’s Reporting requirements
• Contribute to project planning with estimation insights
• Build relationships with subcontractors for pricing accuracy

Requirements:
• Post-secondary education in a relevant field
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in utility construction
• Familiarity with estimating software, specifically InEight
• Strong understanding of construction costs and budgeting
• Ability to read and analyze engineering documents
