Provide vital support for children with complex needs as a Respite Worker at CHEO in Ottawa. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to implement care and programming.
CHEO, a leader in pediatric health, is seeking a Respite Worker to assist children and youth in the Acute Mental Health department. This role requires expertise in behaviour management and physical care. Ideal candidates have a minimum of one year’s experience working with children with developmental and complex behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
• Implement and participate in program activities for clients
• Assist with physical care including lifting and feeding
• Establish clear rules and boundaries for clients
• Support management of challenging behaviours during interactions
• Encourage clients to achieve personal goals using strengths-based methods
Requirements:
• Two-year Diploma in Developmental Service Worker or similar
• At least 1 year of relevant experience with disabilities
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification
• Standard First Aid and CPR Level C training
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills
