TEMPORARY JOB POSTING

HOUSTON SECONDARY SCHOOL

1.0 FTE TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT

SENIOR ENGLISH / TEACHER - LIBRARIAN

EFFECTIVE: September 28, 2026 to January 31, 2027*

(*or return of the incumbent, whichever occurs first)

(and / or other subjects as may be determined by the timetable)

The successful candidate will:

Have university qualifications and/or successful teaching experience in teaching English at a secondary level

Have university qualification and/or successful teaching experience as a Teacher-Librarian and above listed subject areas

Have experience in developing personalized learning plans with parents

Have strong interpersonal skills with the ability and desire to work collaboratively with the school staff, parents and broader community

Be sensitive to the unique needs of home school learners and families

Be able to monitor and report on student progress using current assessment strategies, including formative and criterion referenced assessment





Be able to communicate with other schools regarding accessing learning resources, learning opportunities (DL courses, field trips, extra-curricular activities, etc.)

Be committed to working as a cooperative, team-oriented member of a school wide instructional team attend meetings as required

Be committed to consultation, parent conferences, and positive home/school/community liaison

SALARY: The starting annual salary for full-time teaching position ranges from $66,538 to $116,870, with placement on the range based on length of services and qualification in accordance with the collective agreement. Additionally, $3,500 annually as a Remote & Rural Allowance (Effective July 1, 2026) .
