Salary Range: $32.00 To $38.00 Hourly
Note: This position requires the ability to travel to and from various jobsites, which may be located anywhere between Ladysmith and Victoria.
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Onsite Wood Framer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in wood framing, a keen attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Below are the key responsibilities and qualifications for this position.
Roles and Responsibilities: Install Pre-Fabricated Components: Install prefabricated wood framing components (such as walls, floors, and stairs) at the construction site according to project specifications.
Review Plans: Interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project plans to ensure correct placement and alignment of prefabricated components.
Frame Installation: Position and secure prefabricated components, including walls, beams, headers, joists, and trusses, ensuring structural integrity and proper alignment.
Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with other on-site construction teams, including general contractors, engineers, and laborers, to ensure smooth assembly and timely project completion.
Quality Control: Inspect prefabricated components upon arrival at the site for any defects or discrepancies, and ensure all pieces meet quality standards.
Measure and Cut Components: Measure and cut wood materials on-site as needed to accommodate prefabricated pieces, ensuring precise fitting.
Follow Safety Standards:
Adhere to all safety protocols on the job site, including the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of tools and equipment.
Maintain a Clean Worksite: Keep the job site organized, clean, and free of debris to ensure safety and efficiency throughout the framing process.
Problem-Solving: Address any on-site challenges or adjustments needed during the installation of prefabricated components to maintain construction timelines.
Assist with Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport materials as needed on the construction site.
Qualifications: Experience: 3+ years of experience in wood framing or prefabricated construction, with hands-on experience assembling and installing pre-fabricated components.
Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications.
Tools and Equipment: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools.(e.g., saws, drills, nail guns).
Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting heavy materials, bending, kneeling, and working in varying weather conditions.
Problem-Solving: Solid ability to troubleshoot and adapt to on-site issues, ensuring smooth assembly and installation of prefabricated components.
Safety Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction safety protocols and best practices on the job site.
Team Player: Ability to collaborate with a team of construction professionals to meet project deadlines and objectives.
Other Skills: Ability to work efficiently under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines.
