Eager to help students turn “Je ne sais pas” into “Oh la la”? Motivated to help support children’s French education outside of the classroom?
We teach students HOW to learn French and help them improve their academic skills in a small group setting. Our class sizes are small with a maximum of three students per teacher. We provide all the curriculum and lessons. Teachers do not need to prepare lesson plans; they explain and guide students through the provided material and help them communicate in French.
Position Details
Employment Type: Part‑time
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Schedule: Evenings (4:00 pm‑8:00 pm) Monday‑Friday, Saturday (9:00 am‑2:00 pm); commitment until June preferred, summer continuing preferred.
Location: Oxford Learning Richmond Hill South, 9011 Leslie Street, Suite 201, Richmond Hill, ON
This role is in‑person; relocation packages not available; Vulnerable sector screening mandatory.
Position Requirements
All Teacher‑Tutors work after‑school and evening hours. Candidates must be reliable and possess a strong background in spoken and written French and English. Candidates should be comfortable teaching up to Grade 9, preferably up to Grade 12. The candidate must instruct class sessions in French.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
- Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
- Teaching certification an asset.
- Good knowledge of the current Grades 9‑12 French core curriculum.
Experience
- Some experience teaching/tutoring French at Grade 9‑12 (or equivalent) level.
- Strong English written and oral communication skills.
- Strong French skills and ability to guide students’ understanding.
- Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to 3 students at a time at different levels.
- Teach in‑person (not online).
- Follow Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
- Fill in post‑lesson notes.
- Complete daily student communication updates.
- Maintain a friendly and qualified manner at all times.
