Lightmatter is searching for a Staff Engineer to enhance its Laser Systems Architecture & Engineering team. This role focuses on end-to-end simulation and laboratory validation of photonic-electronic links. You will combine expertise in photonic simulation and high-speed electro-optic lab work to analyze and refine system performance metrics.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and enhance photonic-electronic link simulation models
• Execute Monte Carlo studies and corner analyses for link margin
• Collaborate with designers to optimize transmitter-receiver interfaces
• Contribute to optical link budgets and performance metrics
• Author protocols and iterate models against lab measurements
Requirements:
• PhD in Engineering or Physics with 5+ years of experience
• Proficiency in photonic simulation tools such as VPI Photonics
• Hands-on experience in high-speed optical circuit measurements
• Strong communication skills for team-oriented projects
• Familiarity with SERDES and mixed-signal designs
