Over 250 students per year attend the school to participate in Multi-Engine, Fixed, and Rotary Wing flying, from Ab-Initio through to advanced. This modern program utilizes state-of-the‐art software, classroom, simulator, and aircraft to develop RCAF officers. The turnkey facility provides RCAF students with 5 simulators and 43 aircraft (4 fleets), accommodations, meals, and support services.The Manager of Flying Operations (MFO) is responsible for all aspects of Phase 1 Primary Flying Training through to Phase 3 Multi-Engine or Helicopter training covered by the Contracted Flying Training and Support (CFTS) contract. The MFO shall ensure that all flight operations are carried out safely and effectively and in accordance with (IAW) Department of National Defence (DND), Transport Canada (TC), Flight Safety, and General Safety Guidelines.JOB OVERVIEWProvide day to day leadership and support to the Chief Flying Instructor, Chief Multi-Engine Instructor, Flight Scheduling/ Dispatch and KF Standards on all aspects of CFTS Flying TrainingManage the subcontracted Rotary Wing (Phase 3) training servicesControl the quality of the services provided by sub‐contracted organizations through effective performance monitoring and measurementCoordinate with other managers to ensure effective contract service delivery at mandated levels IAW the Statement of Work (SOW)Create an environment in which all resources can perform effectively and efficientlyParticipate in professional development and promote professional development opportunities for staffDevelop and operate contingency plans for areas of responsibility that anticipate the needs of the customer, changes in resources and demand levelsPosition Specific Responsibilities:Manage the operation by defining and implementing policies, monitoring customer feedback, planning strategies, addressing problems, and ensuring corrective actions are taken promptlyManage the Flight Operations staff of KF Aerospace Defence Programs, including staff recruitment and selection oversight, assessing performance, managing continuous, operational or on the job training, planning and implementing corrective actionsAssist the Flight Safety Officer (FSO) in the investigation of Flight Safety (FS) occurrencesEnsure that all operations are conducted IAW current regulations, standards and air operator policies and instructionsTake action on and disseminate aeronautical and safety information regarding the safety of the operations to affected personnel by the fastest available routeConduct data analysis based on course critiques using information collected via the Training Information Management System (TIMS) to support continuous improvement of the training programMaintain aircraft, facility, courseware, and Contractor Instructor Personnel information in the TIMSDirect operations to ensure effective and efficient contractual complianceOpenly communicate with the customer to maximize productivity, quality, and timeliness of the Flight Training OperationsREQUIREMENTSStrong working knowledge of DND's training systems, contract work instructions, military aviation documentation, and RCAF pilot training program history.Successfully completed an aviation management program conducted by a recognized academic institution and have had two years of aviation management experienceOr have managed a civilian flying operation for five yearsOr shall be a former military member who has had a minimum of two years managing a military flying operationPreference will be given to a candidate with a Military A Category Pilot Qualified Flight Instructor or a TC Class 2 Instructor certification in either Fixed or Rotary Wing aircraftPrevious managerial experience preferredStrong proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteA valid passport and driver's licenseAble and willing to travelPrepared to work outside normal business hours when requiredAbility to obtain and maintain Public Service and Procurement Canada (PSPC) Level 2 Secret ClearanceAbility to obtain Controlled Goods certificationExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsBilingual (English – French) is an assetPost-secondary diploma or higher in Business Management or equivalent an assetBENEFITSReach your full potential with KF Aerospace!
