Business Intelligence Analyst
Pay Rate: $62-75/hour, depending on experience
Contract Length: 1 year

Raise is currently hiring a Business Intelligence Abalyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our client, a partnership of 12 municipalities - one Electoral Area and one treaty First Nation. That collaboratively plans for and delivers regional-scale services with its core services being drinking water, wastewater treatment and solid waste management.
Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
The Business Intelligence Analyst in this role will collaborate with the Water Services Team and the internal BI Project Team. This role involves creating data visualizations by analyzing large datasets using SQL and Power Query to extract and present valuable insights from multiple systems. Additionally, the successful candidate will also focus on requirements gathering, documentation, and standards development. This position is intended to support project-specific initiatives, with assignments offered as required based on project demand and resource requirements. This position requires participation in a hybrid work environment, combining work from home with regular in-office attendance.
The terms of this contract will be as follows:
The initial term of the contract is one year, subject to budget approval and project work availability, with the option to extend or terminate the contract as required. The position is expected to require approximately 600 hours of work annually, although actual hours may vary depending on project requirements and business needs.
Responsibilities
Translating business requirements into technical specifications
Data profiling
Source data analysis with SQL or applicable tools
Business Analysis
Designing and developing the data analytics (data warehouse, data lake ODS, data modelling, Power BI security, Power BI workspace) reusable framework
Designing data models based on technical specifications
Exploring advanced Power BI features for analytics, including customized solutions such as Dataflows and Datamarts
Designing and building data pipelines and ETL packages including:
M Query
Dax Language
Power Query
Dashboards and reports with Power BI Desktop
Troubleshoot day-to-day data warehouse issues
Qualifications
Design, build, and deploy BI solutions (e.g., reporting tools, dashboards)
Maintain and improve existing BI systems
Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle).
Experience with on-premise data warehouse reusable framework design and implementation
Experience with data modelling, analysis, and visualization
Work with relational and non-relational databases to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data
Experience with building data pipelines and ETL processes
Extensive development experience with technologies including SQL Server, REST APIs, OLAP cubes, and BI analytics tools.
Extensive analytic development experience with Power BI and preferably Microsoft Power Platform.
Advanced Power BI Service configuration experience, including Power BI Dataflows and Datamarts.
Experience in Power BI report development, reports automation with data source refresh configurations
Experience with analyzing data source systems to identify data transformation needs
Thorough knowledge of software development methods, practices and procedures
Ability to prepare technical design and write technical specifications
Experience using Azure DevOps to manage projects is preferred
Experience with programming languages such as Python or R is a plus
Experience with Microsoft Fabric for data integration, data warehousing, analytics, semantic modeling, and enterprise reporting solutions is considered a strong asset
